Porsche has made some great drive axle sports cars
Today, the engines of sports cars (such as 718 and 911) made by Porsche are located behind the cockpit, while the engines of cars, station wagons and crossover vehicles (such as Panamera and cayenne) are located at the front of the engine. But as blue blood Porsche, who knows its history, will tell you, there was a time when it also made front engine sports cars.
Their engine is in the front and the gearbox is in the back, which is known as the "transaxle" car. They are still the best sports cars produced by Porsche, and Zuffenhausen is reviewing their development in the latest top five video. The drive axle vehicle originated from a joint project with Volkswagen and Audi (Porsche will merge with it in a few decades), but we are very happy that Porsche worked on its own after its partners withdrew during the OPEC oil crisis. yes
Porsche's transaxle product line represents a completely different approach from the rear 911 (or any other product it has made), resulting in models 928, 924, 944 and 968. With four or eight cylinders, there are a series of manual and automatic transmissions on the rear axle.
Porsche has been producing transaxle sports cars from 1976 (when the 924 was launched) to 1995 (when the 928 was finally discontinued). The Boxster (first launched in 1996) eventually became the company's entry-level model, and the Panamera (launched in the second decade of 2009) became its top station wagon. At this point, of course, the company makes more crossover vehicles than transaxles or any other type of sports car, such as the Macan and cayenne. It even recently launched taycan as its first all electric vehicle. However, if the idea of these front engine sports cars came into being without rethinking, those who change the rules of the game may never follow it.
