Qualcomm's snapdragon 480 heralds a new wave of cheap 5g mobile phones
Today, Xiaobian will share with you an article about Internet, mobile phone and science and technology. I believe many of my friends still don't know much about Internet, mobile phone and science and technology. Xiaobian also collected some knowledge about mobile phone, Internet and science and technology on the Internet to share with you, I hope it will help.
Qualcomm officially announced snapdragon 480 5g, the company's latest 5g enabled processor and the first in its snapdragon 4 series of chips that power budget constrained Android devices that are often cheaper than most of Qualcomm's 5g efforts to date.
At first, the news of 4-series chips with 5g was released on IFA 2020, but today's announcement marks the first real detail of the new processor. Snapdragon 480 has an integrated snapdragon X51 modem and supports mmwave and networks below 6GHz.
Adding 5g to the 4 series may be one of the biggest factors to make the next generation network standard easier for global users. Currently, most 5g phones tend to cost more than $500 - the technology is usually limited to mid tier and flagship phones. But by adding it to the snapdragon 4 series, Qualcomm makes it easy for manufacturers to add 5g to the cheapest phones priced between $125 and $250. This means that 2021 may be the year when 5g mobile phones are really expected.
However, snapdragon 480 not only stands out because of its 5g support, but also hopes to provide a greater performance leap than its predecessor snapdragon 460. Specifically, Qualcomm said that the snapdragon 480 should have twice the performance of the old snapdragon. CPU and GPU model, AI task improved by 70%( Especially through the new Adreno 619 GPU, kryo 460 CPU and qcomm hexagon 686 chipset.)
The quality snapdragon products of the past also have a lot of features, making their debut in the budget series for the first time. Snapdragon 480 is the first 4-series chip to use 8 nm process, the first to support quick charge 4 plus, the first to support 120fps FHD + panel, the first to provide 64 megapixel still image, and the first to provide triple resolution. ISP integrates three cameras and can take up to three photos at a time. Again, these are not new features, but they should greatly expand what low-cost mobile phones will be able to achieve - especially when combined with the performance improvements of CPU and GPU.
It is expected that the first phones equipped with snapdragon 480 will be available in the first quarter of 2021. Novo, oppo, Xiaomi, Motorola and HMD's Nokia are the leading companies that are expected to launch mobile phones with the new chip in the next few months.
