HTC launches ViveSync for VR video chat
During a pandemic, video chat is an important part of keeping in touch with friends, family, and colleagues, but watching the constantly changing screen to show the person who is chatting can be frustrating. HTC offers another more natural solution, which relies on virtual reality.
As reported by VRFocus, HTC has just publicly released the beta version of the Vive Sync VR collaboration tool. Vive Sync is not new. It has been developed by virtual reality developer 2 Bears Studio since 2018, and a closed beta version is available upon invitation. The open beta version released today allows business users to start testing the tool with employees, and it will definitely be popular because it means that everyone has a meeting/chat in almost the same conference room.
HTC held a webinar earlier this month to explain exactly how to use Vive Sync for remote work:
In order to use Vive Sync, users will need to use one of HTC's Vive headsets, but Android and iOS devices under development also have a viewing mode, which will definitely open up to a potentially large user base when it launches. You can hold meetings with up to 30 participants, and all participants can create a unique look for their avatars. HTC has done a lot of work to ensure that the customizable meeting room is large enough to provide attendees with a sense of space, while also including a large display screen, so everyone always knows what is going on or is talking about.
