BlackBerry no longer offers BlackBerry 7.1OS and earlier versions

Published on January 5, 2022: On January 4, the BlackBerry OS built by BlackBerry will be discontinued. Officially, BlackBerry no longer provides old services for BlackBerry 7.1OS and earlier versions, BlackBerry 10 software, BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1 and earlier versions, and these traditional services and software connected through carriers or Wi-Fi will no longer work reliably. .

PhoneArena pointed out that after the BlackBerryOS is stopped, the related devices will not be able to make calls, send text messages, and even 911 (alarm calls), which is equivalent to bricking the user's mobile phone.

In addition, some applications such as BlackBerryLink, BlackBerryDesktopManager, BlackBerryWorld, BlackBerryProtect, BlackBerryMessenger and BlackBerryBlend are no longer available due to this impact.

It is worth noting that BlackBerry devices running the Android operating system are not affected, such as the BlackBerry KeyOne, Key2 and Key2LE, but most of these devices have stopped updating and are no longer officially maintained.

Statistics show that the peak period of BlackBerry was in 2009. At that time, the mobile phone giant won 20% of the global market and was in the limelight for a while.

However, the brilliance of BlackBerry ended here. In 2010, the mobile phone industry began to fully enter the era of intelligence dominated by the iPhone, and the era of BlackBerry came to an end.
