Samsung opens Odyssey G9 and G7 display bookings today

Samsung today opened bookings for Odyssey G9 and G7 displays, which were first launched as CES 2020 in January.

If you like curved and ultra wide displays, the Odyssey lineup is definitely worth considering. Samsung is offering a qled panel, which the company calls "the first ever panel with high performance 1000r curvature.". Whether you choose G9 or G7 depends on your budget and the available space on your desk.

The Odyssey G9 is a 49 inch curved display offering 5120 1440 Dual Quad resolution, 32:9 aspect ratio, and 1000 nits of peak brightness. Players will be happy to hear that Samsung offers hdr1000 support, 1ms response time and 240Hz refresh rate. The exterior features a smooth white finish and "infinite core lighting technology" that projects 52 different colors and five lighting effects onto the wall behind the monitor. It is also fully adjustable in height.

Odyssey G7 has two options: 27 inch and 32 inch models. They all offer 2560 × 1440 resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, 600 nits peak brightness and hdr600 support, as well as the same response time, refresh rate and lighting technology in G9. However, the rear lights are limited to "weak blue light", while Samsung added adjustable lights at the bottom of the front bezel and chose to make the exterior finish matte black instead of white.
