ASUS has launched a series of wireless gaming peripherals a while ago, including ROG Chakram and ROG Strix Go 2.4. In the future, for players who like a stable wired experience, ROG launched a wired version for the original two peripherals and named it "Core "Series, that is, the ROG Chakram Core gaming mouse that was out of the box and the ROG Strix Go Core gaming headset that I’m going to introduce to you today. The more special part of the headset is that the single-name "Core" version uses 3.5mm. In addition to the headphone cable for connection, there is also a version that uses a USB-C port. The difference between the two is that the USB-C version has its own microphone noise reduction function, which I don’t have. The price is more close to the people, and for players who mostly play games by themselves, ROG Strix Go Core is relatively easier to start.
Low-key design continues
Visually speaking, it is not difficult for sharp-eyed players to find that ROG Strix Go Core and the previously introduced ROG Strix Go 2.4 that uses 2.4GHz wireless connection can be said to be the same in appearance. They are both low-key and all-black design and paired with left and right earphone holders. ROG's Fearless Eye and Logo do product image enhancement. However, due to the change to the 3.5mm wired connection, the weight part has been reduced from the original wireless version of 290g and lighter to only 252g. Although the difference in numbers is not large, the pressure experience under long-term wear is still slightly different.
Under the wired connection setting of the 3.5mm headphone cable, it can be compatible with more gaming platforms. As long as the device with a 3.5mm headphone jack can be used freely, this is also compared to the wireless version that uses only USB-C and Bluetooth pairing methods. The corresponding flexibility of the 3.5mm headphone jack is relatively higher. Players can basically use it on a variety of different devices. At this stage, the 3.5mm headphone jack is generally canceled by smartphones. ROG Strix Go Core is in this part. Correspondence is a bit troublesome, but fortunately, if you buy ROG Strix Go Core, you will be given an additional Type-C to 3.5mm headphone jack noise reduction microphone sound card, which can be used as a way to connect to Type-C mobile phones.
Exclusive 40mm drive unit design
In terms of hardware specifications, ROG Strix Go Core is equipped with ASUS’s exclusive 40mm ASUS Essence driver unit. The design is made of neodymium magnets with an impedance of 32 Ohm and a response frequency of 20 to 40,000 Hz. This is also the frequency range of mainstream general gaming headsets. The microphone part uses a boom-type unidirectional microphone with a response frequency of 100~10000Hz and a sensitivity of -45 dB. The sound quality of the call is adjusted by ROG and well-known chat software such as Discord and Teamspeak. , So that the player's voice can be more prominent from the background sound, and overall it is in line with the mainstream positioning.
