 Since the beginning of the iPhone X, Apple has replaced Touch ID with Face ID, but users need to wear masks during the epidemic, and they feel that fingerprints are more convenient for facial recognition. Although it is rumored that the iPhone 12 will imitate the iPad Air 4 and integrate Touch ID into the power button, but it didn't work out in the end. The latest rumors indicate that Apple is considering re-introducing Touch ID to future iPhones with fingerprint recognition at the bottom of the screen.


The well-known whistleblower L0vetodream posted on Twitter a few days ago, saying "MESA uts for iPhone". Netizens were confused after seeing it. As a result, another whistleblower Jon Prosser tried to solve the puzzle, saying that MESA is Apple's internal code name for Touch ID, while UTS means under the screen. To put it simply, Apple is developing an under-screen fingerprint recognition solution for the iPhone.


At present, the mainstream under-screen fingerprint recognition technology mainly includes optical and ultrasonic. The source L0vetodream did not further mention which solution Apple adopted or developed its own technology, nor did it say whether Touch ID will return in the iPhone 13 next year.
