Google conducts small-scale tests to turn YouTube into a shopping mall
Bloomberg News Agency reported that YouTube is testing new features, allowing users to directly purchase products that appear in the video. If the test is successful, Google will make major changes to YouTube, turning this video streaming platform into a competitor of e-commerce Amazon. YouTube is alleged to require some creators to record the products appearing in the video, and then transfer the data to Google to create YouTube’s exclusive analysis models and sales tools.
It is reported that Google intends to integrate Shopify's functions so that YouTube can also become an online shopping platform. A YouTube spokesperson confirmed to Bloomberg that the company is cooperating with individual channels to test the new features. It is still in the experimental stage and creators have the right to choose which items appearing in the video are included in the sales list.
