COVID-19 drives computer sales, Acer benefits most, Dell sales fall

Since smart phones have become more popular, in addition to the sharp drop in sales of portable cameras, even consumers' demand for computers has also decreased. With the global outbreak of Wuhan pneumonia, people need to stay at home to work and study, but it has brought a new wave of buying computers. According to the latest data released by market research company Canalys, the total computer shipments of computer manufacturers reached 79.2 million units in the third quarter of this year, an increase of 12.7% over the same period last year, the best performance in the past 10 years.
Among them, Acer has benefited the most. They shipped 5.6 million units in the third quarter, an increase of 15% over the same period last year and the highest among the top 5 computer manufacturers. As for the world's largest computer manufacturer, Lenovo's shipments were 19.3 million units, also an 11.4% increase. However, not all brands have benefited from this. Dell, the world's third-largest computer manufacturer, has seen a 0.5% drop in shipments in the third quarter of this year, which is the only one that has regressed in the top five.
In addition to the increase in computer hardware due to the epidemic, even the time for software applications has also increased significantly. In May of this year, Microsoft revealed that the total time of computer users worldwide using Windows 10 reached 4 trillion minutes per month, an increase of 75% year-on-year.
