A major reshuffle of smartphone
Huawei continued to hold down Samsung in the second quarter of this year, becoming the world's largest smartphone manufacturer, but the situation is expected to change significantly next year. The website DigiTimes reported that Huawei's ranking will drop to seventh place next year, and it will be another Chinese brand OPPO that will jump to third place instead.
It is expected that Samsung and Apple will rank first and second next year, and OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi will be ranked third to fifth, all of which are Chinese brands. Ranked ahead of Huawei in seventh place is the Chinese brand Transsion (Shenzhen Transsion), which sells entry-level mobile phones in African and South Asian countries under the names of Tecno, Itel and Infinix.
After three consecutive years of downward adjustments in mobile phone sales, it is expected that there will be an increase of 150 million units next year. This is due to the increasing popularity of 5G mobile phones in the United States, Western Europe and Japan. In addition, the sales of entry-level 4G and 5G mobile phones in emerging markets are also expected to increase. Reasons for the overall increase in mobile phone sales.
