6 reasons to buy a new iPad Air 4 instead of a new iPad

At 1:00 am on September 16, the much-anticipated Apple new product launch conference came as scheduled. The new products released at the conference include Apple Watch Series 6, Apple Watch SE, iPad (eighth generation), iPad Air (fourth generation) , A14 Bionic Epistar, Apple Watch S6 Epistar, Fitness + and Apple One.

If you want to buy a new iPad, there are now two main choices: the new iPad (technically iPad 8) or the new iPad Air 4.

These two tablets do not look the same, and there are many reasons for us to choose under the surface, but they all tend to iPad Air 4. Yes, the price of the iPad Air 4 is much more expensive. Today we will talk about six reasons to buy the iPad Air 4 model instead of the classic iPad.

Better display

The frame-to-frame display of the iPad Air is 0.7 inches larger than the new iPad, but this is only a small difference, and it is even hard to see at a glance. The real change comes from the big upgrade of the screen quality. Although the iPad still stays on the traditional Retina display, Air 4 has been upgraded to Liquid Retina and True Tone, with full fit and anti-reflective coating for better visual effects. Its resolution is also higher, 2360×1640, while the iPad’s resolution is 2160×1620. This makes Air 4 superior in color accuracy and entertainment purposes.

Type-C connection

The eighth generation iPad continues to use the old Lightning interface for charging. Air 4, finally upgraded to Type-C along with the iPad Pro model. This is a big hardware improvement; not only is the Type-C cable's better charging experience, but it is also compatible with more potential chargers and various devices that can transmit data faster. This makes Air 4 more versatile and ready for future development.

Better accessories

If you don't study it carefully, you really can't see it. In fact, the compatibility of the accessories of the two new iPads is quite different. iPad supports Apple Pencil 1st generation, but cannot be used with 2nd generation Pencil. It can work with the traditional smart keyboard provided by Apple, but it is not compatible with any new Folios.

The iPad Air 4 is specifically designed to work with the more advanced second-generation Pencil, and will not work with the first-generation Pencil. It can also be used in conjunction with the Smart Folio keyboard, which includes a touchpad designed specifically for the cursor on the iPad interface. If you want your iPad to be a possible alternative to a laptop, this is a good addition.

Larger storage options

The iPad can hold up to 128GB of storage space. iPad Air 4 easily surpasses this point, with a maximum storage space of 256GB. If many iPad users don’t save large amounts of data directly on the iPad and are satisfied with the lower storage configuration, this may not be important to them. However, for those who want to use the iPad as an alternative to a laptop, or store large amounts of movies, TV shows, and other files, the iPad Air 4 will have more storage options.

Better lens

Do you like to use the iPad camera to take pictures, scan rooms, and even recognize math problems? The iPad is equipped with an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens. It's not bad, it can complete most tasks, but some people may feel that its pixels are not enough. Those who want to challenge the limits of iPad photography will prefer Air 4’s 12-megapixel camera, which greatly expands the details and image quality that may be noticed.

More powerful processor

The iPad's processor uses the old A12 Bionic wafer. However, Air 4 is directly upgraded to the brand new A14 wafer, and the difference between the two is huge. A14 now has a 6-core processor, resulting in a 40% increase in CPU performance, a 30% increase in graphics performance, and the neural engine's speed is twice that of the A13. The difference between A12 and A14 is more prominent. This makes Air 4 ideal for handling more complex tasks, such as 4K video editing.
